Who We Are

William Nusser

Enrolled Agent

William Nusser is a licensed Enrolled Agent from Hutchinson, KS that has a passion for hard work.  Proudly Simmons & Simmons has been his only place of employment since graduating from Washburn University in 2010.  In 2017, he purchased the firm from Kevin and Joe Simmons.

William has a passion for servant leadership serving as Mayor for the City of Larned since 2015 while having other active roles in the community.

Outside of using his expertise in tax and accounting for clients at Simmons & Simmons what drives him is traveling the Midwest racing dirt oval track cars.  You can find the Nusser Racing team competing across various divisions. 

Katelyn Nusser

Enrolled Agent

Katelyn Nusser is a licensed Enrolled Agent from Bruce, Wisconsin.  Obtained her accounting degree from Northwood Technical College.  Katelyn joined Simmons & Simmons in 2016.

Katelyn provides a wide variety of services including tax preparation, tax planning, payroll and financial statement preparation.  Katelyn is actively involved in the community serving as the Clerk for the Larned Recreation Commission, board member for the Santa Fe Trailer Center and President of Larned Civic PRIDE Organization.

If you catch Katelyn outside the office or volunteering, you could find her enjoying her free time outdoors in a variety of activities with a special passion for camping and reading.  Katelyn is an avid supporter and member of the Nusser Racing team traveling across the Midwest with William.  She even has a little sense of speed having her motorcycle license.

Chris

Enrolled Agent

Chris is an Enrolled Agent at Simmons & Simmons. He brings a unique, service-oriented perspective to the firm, cultivated during his prior career working in mental health.

Chris is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and striving for client satisfaction in every engagement. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas and remains a proud supporter of KU athletics.

When not focused on his professional life, Chris is involved in the local community, assisting Larned Civic Pride with their events. He is an avid golfer and proudly serves as a Board Member at the Larned Country Club.

Summer weekends are often spent in the pits at the dirt track races, wrenching on the Nusser Racing car. He also enjoys tailgating with family and friends at every home KU football game and makes an annual trip to Vegas for a break.

Janessa Meckfessel

Senior Accounts Assistant

Janessa Meckfessel joined Simmons & Simmons in October 2017 and currently serves as Senior Accounts Assistant. Prior to joining the firm, she was Assistant Director of Admissions at Washburn University School of Law. Her previous experience also includes roles with Bank of the West and the Kansas Bar Association.

A native of Valley Falls, Kansas, Janessa earned her bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University.

Outside of work, Janessa is actively involved in her community. She serves on the board of Caring Hands Daycare Center and participates in various roles within her church. She also previously served on the Pawnee County Extension Executive Board.

Janessa and her husband, Ryan, live and farm in rural Garfield. They have two daughters, Kaylene and Myla.

Caren Holguin

Accounts Assistant

Caren Holguin joined Simmons & Simmons in September of 2025 and currently serves as the Accounts Assistant.  Prior to joining the firm, she worked as an esthetician at Fullfill Med Spa in Pratt, KS. She also gained valuable accounting experience as an Accounts Assistant with Christian Brothers Construction in Dodge City, KS. Her diverse background reflects her dedication to both precision and people.

In addition to her role at Simmons & Simmons, Caren is a licensed esthetician and continues to practice part-time at The Beauty Bar Aesthetics on Broadway here in Larned.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends, going to concerts, and reading. Caren graduated from Macksville High School in 2020. Where she currently lives with her dog Wren.
